An emerging wine style – the Viognier (white wine) softens and adds a subtle floral to the Shiraz. This one starts out with the aroma of plum, roses, spice and oak, followed by flavors full of ripe fruit and sweet spice, finishing with crisp acid and mellow tannins.
This is a great blend of 90 per cent shiraz, 10 per cent viognier.
Most regions experienced good winter rains followed by dry, mild summer weather. Despite the ideal growing conditions, ripening in Western Australia was slower than average but the resulting wines showed well defined fruit flavours in both reds and whites. Harvest decisions were not compromised by negative environmental factors. A benchmark vintage. Deep brick red in colour. Attractive aromas of plum, roses, spice and oak. The plum and spice aroma characters evident on the nose are also evident on the palate where these characteristics integrate perfectly with soft tannins and gentle acid. The Viognier contributes to the viscosity of the palate and the wine finishes with a hint of sweetness.
