2004 Plate Licker Shiraz Viognier (Great Southern WA)

Silver medal – Australian Small Winemakers Show 2007, 3 Stars Wine State Magazine – New Releases 2006, 3 Stars Wine State Magazine – Shiraz & Shiraz Blends 2006 Best 40 Wine State Magazine – New Releases (Under $15)

This is a lovely blend of 90 per cent Shiraz with 10 per cent Viognier, an increasingly popular blend, this was a benchmark vintage. Deep brick red in colour. Attractive aromas of plum, roses, spice and oak. The plum and spice aroma characters evident on the nose are also evident on the palate where these characteristics integrate perfectly with soft tannins and gentle acid. The Viognier contributes to the viscosity of the palate and the wine finishes with a hint of sweetness.

2005 Yarraman Estate The Bolter Cabernet Merlot (Upper Hunter Valley NSW)

Grapes from the Yarraman Estate vineyards were blended with fruit sourced from other premium areas. The varieties were picked individually at optimal ripeness with winemaking techniques tailored to the characters of the different fruit. Oak treatment was minimal with the choice being French, just to add some subtle nuances of flavour. The style is rich, yet soft with plenty of red fruit flavours enhanced by subtle oak. Brilliant and dark brick red in colour. Refined aromas of berry fruits, cedar and a touch of spice. Medium bodied with plenty of fleshy, ripe fruit flavours. Balance is the key, with soft acid and tannins and a lingering dry finish.
2006 Blackwood Wines Fishbone Shiraz (Blackwood Valley WA)
Blackwood Wines’ second label has seen the team develop a range of wines sourced from premium fruit from the South West of Western Australia. The modern label with its coastal theme, reflects the rugged and beautiful South West Australian region, it also highlights the unique wine styles which put it at the forefront of Australian premium wine production. The bulk of the grapes for this wine were picked from premium vineyards in Margaret River and the home vineyard in the Blackwood Valley. The wine itself is deep red in colour with aromas of exotic fruit, spice and black pepper. A solid backbone of ripe black cherry with hints of apricot and finishing with soft ripe tannins. This wine is drinking well now and is a suitable match for rare beef.
2007 Passing Clouds "Graemes Blend" Shiraz Cabernet (Central Victoria)
Central Victoria.  Vibrant red-purple in colour with aromas of blackberry and well integrated good quality oak, it has great acid/tannin balance with a superb, long finish. The classic Passing Clouds blend of 60% Shiraz and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon gives the wine its complexity. It is drinking very well now, however it will improve brilliantly over the years.
